The savings program started in 2016 targeting the most vulnerable women from the marginal areas of Cusco. Many are single parents, widowed and homemakers.
Groups are formed with a minimum of six women who share common interests or live near each other. They write their own bylaws and elect officers for their own group. Meetings are held every two weeks and include training as well as the administration of their savings.
Development of Life-skills
Topics for the trainings include Leadership, Self-Esteem, Trust, Values, Business, etc. They are adapted to what are useful and pertinent to the situation of the women in each of the groups. All these topics are taught from a biblical and Christ-centered perspective. The meetings also include Bible studies and discipleship.

Development of Technical Skills
Many of the women that participate in our program don’t have an occupation. They are at home and to make a little extra money some may wash clothes or have very small businesses. Kallarisunchis, thanks to the support of volunteers, has offered training in some technical skills such as knitting, card making and hair cutting. (These have been offered thus far.)
Development of Savings
Generally, the women agree to save a minimum amount and bring it to the bi-weekly meetings. They present it to the treasurer for all to see and afterwards she deposits it in the bank. They keep clear records and see their savings increase with each deposit.
